EIT Climate-KIC Cyprus Hub

Since 2016 Cyprus has become a part of the EIT Climate-KIC RIS (Regional Innovation Scheme) Programme. The Hub in Cyprus consists of 3 partners: the Cyprus University of Technology (Hub coordinator), the Cyprus Energy Agency and Chrysalis LEAP.

The Cyprus University of Technology is a public university focusing on education activities (Academic Partner). CUT is mainly working on Education Programmes (JOURNEY), Innovation Actions (Circular Economy) and Policy (Cyprus NECP).

The Cyprus Energy Agency is the Hub’s Public NGO Partner. The agency’s focus is on policy, training and awareness. CEA is working on Pioneers in Practice, Circular Economy in Construction, Climathon and the SUSHI (SUStainable HIstoric districts) project.

Chrysalis LEAP is a cleantech accelerator that focuses on start-up training, making Chrysalis LEAP the Entrepreneurship Partner in the Hub. Chrysalis LEAP’s main principle is “Business Idea Acceleration” hence its involvement in hosting the ClimateLaunchpad in Cyprus, guiding RIS Stages 2 & 3 acceleration and running bespoke entrepreneurship training programmes.

As mentioned above the Cyprus Hub is a part of the EIT Climate-KIC RIS (Regional Innovation Scheme) Programme. EIT is an independent EU body which increases Europe’s ability to innovate by nurturing entrepreneurial talent and supporting new ideas. The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) is designed for EU Member States and Horizon 2020 Associated Countries in Europe who are modest and moderate innovators and where Innovation Communities have few or no partners.
